On the 28th, it was learned from the General Administration of Customs that in the first five months of this year, China imported a total of 16.15 billion yuan of African agricultural products, a year-on-year increase of 26.5%. In recent years, African agricultural exports to China have grown rapidly, and China has become the second largest destination country for African agricultural exports.
The 315 kg wild dried anchovy produced in Kenya arrived at Changsha Huanghua International Airport a few days ago. The customs of Changsha Huanghua Airport implemented inspection and quarantine according to regulations, issued the inspection and quarantine certificate of entry goods for this batch of dried anchovy, and went through customs clearance and release procedures. This is the first time China has imported wild anchovy products from Kenya. Huang Caixin, Director of the Import and Export Food Safety Department of Changsha Customs, introduced that Kenyan anchovy jerky is another African product that Changsha Customs has participated in promoting access to. It is conducive to Hunan's creation of an African non resource oriented product distribution and processing trade center, as well as promoting the import of more high-quality food and agricultural products from Africa, enriching domestic consumer choices, and promoting the development of trade between China and Africa.
Kenya has abundant marine fishery resources, especially in the offshore area of Mombasa, where small fish species such as anchovy are abundant and of good quality, and there is a significant advantage in fishing and production costs. Chinese related enterprises will further expand their supply of goods to countries such as Tanzania and Somalia in the future, not only supplying high-quality food raw materials domestically, but also promoting the development of aquatic product processing industries in Kenya and other countries, providing employment opportunities for local residents.
